The Ultimate Gift Guide For 2 Year Olds
Christmas time is almost here! I am especially excited about Christmas this year because my toddler is at the fun stage where her eyes just gleam with excitement for Christmas. If you have a 2 year old or need to get a gift for a 2 year old, then this post is for you!
I listed everything my 2 year old loves, looked up gift guides from stores, and did some research on Amazon so you don’t have to!

Toys
Play Kitchen
We have this exact same kitchen in white, and my toddler plays with it every single day. It’s under $100 too (last time I checked)! The only down side about the kitchen is there are a lot of pieces you have to put together. If you want to surprise them on Christmas morning, you might have to take a few hours the night before to set it up.
Rocking Toy
I couldn’t find the exact one my toddler has, but she loves riding her rocking toy in our living room.
Cleaning Toy – Dust, Sweep, Mop!
Not only is this a good pretend toy but it also can be a great way to teach your kids to clean up! When I sweep the floor my toddler will get her broom and sweep with me too.
Bath Toys and Bath Bombs
Toddlers love bath time! Why not make it more fun by getting fun stuff for the bath? Other than toys, there are a bunch of things you can get for the bath like bubble bath, color bath bomb, or bath crayons.
Tent or Teepee
I remember as a kid loving a little tent and pretending like it was my house. My toddler has a pop-up tent she uses to play in, but I really like the idea of getting those nice teepees to put in her bedroom.
Doll House
There are many kinds of doll houses out there, but my toddler has the wooden one from Melissa and Doug. I like that this is a to-go kind with handles. The handles make it easier to clean up and since it’s wood it’s gender neutral. This doll house also includes the wooden dolls and furniture!
Magnets
We have alphabet magnets, but I noticed my toddler was really interested in playing with the regular magnets on the fridge. I found these cute ones and thought they would be a great gift idea.
Hand or Finger Puppets
Our church does Awana and my toddler is in Puggles. For the first class, she and all of the other toddlers received a Puggle finger puppet. They talk about their finger puppet non-stop because they loved it so much, and they get really excited every time it’s time to get the puppet out!
Musical Instruments
Toddlers love making music! My husband is musically talented and can play the piano and guitar. He likes to have our toddler play music along with him and she loves it! So far my daughter has a play keyboard, guitar, and a harmonica.
Duplos
These lego blocks are bigger than regular legos which make it easier and safer for your toddler to play with. Great toy for their little hands to build and watch them use their imagination!
Toy Cell Phone or Toy Computer
One of the cutest things a toddler can do is pretend they are talking on a phone. Why not get them their own toy cell phone? My toddler puts her toy cell phone in her pocket and everything lol. She also has a toy computer that she likes to pretend to use when I am working on my laptop.
Puzzles
Puzzles help with fine motor skills and can help your little one learn about colors, shapes, numbers, and all kinds of other things. I personally really like the wooden puzzles because they are better made.
Tea Set
Any toy kitchen gadget would be a perfect gift if your toddler already has a play kitchen. There are all kinds of things you can get like pots, pans, toaster, cooking utensils, mixers, and so on. This tea set is the exact same one my toddler has and she loves it. It plays songs that are catchy and teaches manners too 😉
Stuff For Dress Up
Every Sunday when I dress my daughter up in a dress, she will twirl around and put on a big smile. We always complete her outfit with a bow too haha. Even for Halloween she had a blast dressing up, so I made sure to put this on her Christmas wish list.
Doctor Kit
Imaginative play is huge for this stage of childhood. My daughter has a doctor pretend kit and uses it on her stuffed animals. They even have a vet kit with a puppy if that is more appealing.
Baby Alive
My husband and I are getting this for my 2 year old for Christmas this year. She actually doesn’t have a baby doll so this would be perfect for her! Plus, they have all kinds of accessories to go with it like a crib, stroller, diapers, and so much more!
Outdoor Toys
Slide or Swing Set
My toddler only played with this slide when I took her to a bounce house place. She was enjoying sliding so much that she didn’t even care to bounce on the inflatable bouncers. If you have a backyard this would be a great gift!
Sand Table and Water Table
Water play and sand play will keep your toddler occupied for a very long time. We got one of these for my toddler over the summer and she would play with this for hours. It was amazing! I would play with her during the summer months and even got to enjoy some reading while she played with it.
Sports
The possibilities are endless here. There are many kinds of play sports equipment you can get that it’s basically up to you or what the child is interested in. Basketball, soccer, football, hockey?
Bubbles
Bubbles are usually small and cheap to buy. These would make perfect stocking gifts too!
Chalk
Along with bubbles why not add chalk too? When I go outside with my kids I always get bubbles and the chalk out for them.
Riding Toys
There are many other types of riding toys but my toddler has the Minnie Mouse airplane riding toy. We use ours indoor but I think many people have little ones play with them outside.
Balance Bikes
I’ve never seen these before until I went camping last year, and I saw a bunch of little kids riding these balance bikes. For this specific balance bike the description said that it is age appropriate from 18 months old up to 3 years old. There were other ones that go up to 5 years old too.
Crafts
Stamp set
All you need is paper and your little one can start going to town with these stamps. The Melissa and Doug stamp sets include the ink and colored pencils with the stamps!
Play-Doh
If you haven’t gotten any Play-Doh for your toddler you are missing out! If you don’t want to buy any you can also make your own! Pinterest has a bunch of recipes and even edible kinds too! Whatever kind you give, your toddler will be entertained for quite a long time. You could even get some accessories to go with the Play-Doh.
Chalk Board & Drawing Easel
If your little one loves to draw this will be a huge hit! I like easels that have something different on each side. The one we have at home has a chalkboard on one-side and a white board on the other side.
Coloring Books
The coloring pages are pretty big and easy to color. My toddler has had this since she was 16 months old and still loves coloring in it. We also got her big washable crayons to go with her coloring books.
Reusable Sticker Pad
Reusable. I repeat, reusable! Plus, it has stickers. Every toddler’s dream 😉
Stickers
Cheap and easy gift. Toddlers love stickers 🙂
Water Wow
Another reusable item that I highly recommend! This is great to take along for trips and it keeps your toddler entertained for a long time. All you need to do is fill the bush pen with water and that’s it! Once the pages dry up you can use more water to paint the pages again. These are also great to take along to church when my toddler needs to stay quiet during a service.
Something Of Their Own
Towel
At our home, all of our towel are regular white towels. When we got my toddler her own towel for the beach she was so excited. We use it for her bath time now too since she loves it so much.
Blanket
When my toddler and I watch a movie, we love snuggling under a cozy blanket. How about getting a blanket that has their favorite character on it, or a customized blanket with their name or monogram?
Anywhere chair
I’ve always thought these were really cute. They seemed like a huge hit last year for kids, and thought I would include one on this gift list too. There are certain stores you can even get customization on them.
Backpack and Suitcase
Perfect for going to visit Grandma and Grandpa! My toddler has a backpack she uses every Sunday to put her diapers in and her art work she does during Sunday School. She also has a dufflebag that we pack her clothes in when we go visit the Grandparents.
Plates, Cups, & Utensils
My toddler takes such pride in having her own utensils and dinner ware. I thought this would be a cute idea if your toddler didn’t have some of their own.
Toothbrush
Great stocking gift idea. You can get a toothbrush with their favorite character or kinds that play music!
Other
Movies
Some of the toddlers I watch during nursery and my own toddler love movies like Veggie Tales and pretty much anything Disney. If it contains fun and catchy music they are bound to love that movie 😉
Books
Books make the perfect gift! Toddlers love the lift the flap books or any type of book that gets your little one involved. Where’s Spot? is one of my toddler’s favorites.
Clothes
Regular clothes make great gifts too, but I usually like to get dresses or church clothes for Christmas. A good quality coat and shoes can be great ideas too.
Table and Chairs
How cute are these table and chairs? Since my toddler loves coloring and drawing, toddler sized table and chairs would be perfect to do crafty activities.
Hair Accessories
If you have a girl, bows, clips, headbands, and hair ties would be a great gift. My toddler loves having big bows in her hair! Great stocking gift idea too 😉
Wall Decor
This could include fun wall stickers additionally to framed wall decor. Honestly I’ve seen some really cute wall stickers at the dollar store, but you could get your toddler’s favorite characters at other stores.
Night Light
Every night before bed, my toddler gets really excited about turning on her nightlight. We have the kind that projects an image on the wall just like this one.
Experience Gifts
If you don’t really want to get toys for your toddler, you can always do experience gifts! I think doing things and making memories are meaningful and very important to kids. Here are some ideas…
- Ballet Classes
- Music Classes
- Tickets to a sports game
- Passes to a museum
What did you think of the gift guide? Was it helpful or did it give you some ideas you didn’t think of? I’d love to hear what you think!
This has so many amazing ideas!! We’re super excited for baby’s first Christmas but cannot wait for baby’s second m Christmas!! He’ll be 18 months and so much fun to do gifts with!!
Baby’s 1st Christmas is so special but next year it will be special in a different way 🙂
Thanks for doing the research on this!!!
You’re welcome 🙂 I love looking at gift guides and getting ideas from them!
I just ordered the Melissa and Doug sticker pad for my daughter. I can’t wait to get it in. Thanks for the awesome suggestions!
Awesome! I also got the sticker pad for my daughter for Christmas 🙂
We have so many of these, it’s kind of embarrassing. LOL. Each of them is a great option for any toddler. I love that you not only gave ideas for inside toys but also outside because those seem to be challenging to find sometimes. Awesome and helpful list!
Thank you 🙂
This is a great post filled with wonderful gift ideas for a 2 year old! My daughter, who just turned 2 in October, loves stickers and play doh! Building with blocks and imaginative kitchen play are favorite daily activities, too 🙂 I love that you included experience gifts because I know our house is getting pretty full of stuff, but I love visiting new places and doing new things as a family!
Thank you! 🙂 Yes! Stickers, Play-Doh, and the play kitchen are my toddler’s favorites for sure!
I love this list! I’ll just link to this as my son’s birthday/Christmas list next year. I may need to get him the toy cell phone soon though. He wants our cell phones in the worst way.
Haha Yes! The cell phone 😉 It’s so cute when they start to pretend like they are talking on it!
Lots of great ideas on here! My daughter is getting that kitchen, broom set and balance bike this year! I think next year she’d love a doll house.
Sounds like she is getting a lot of great presents this year 😉
I can’t believe my baby will be this age in just a year and a half!! I will have to keep these in mind for when she’s old enough!
Time goes by so quickly! Babies don’t keep 🙁
