Hello Kitty Themed Birthday Party

Hello Kitty Themed Birthday Party

For my toddler’s (Arwen) second birthday we threw her a Hello Kitty themed birthday party. She loves Hello Kitty and thought it would be a cute theme for a 2 year old!

The party was pretty low budget so I’ll share my tips and tricks below 😉

Decorations

Most of the Hello Kitty decorations came from either Walmart or Party City. Party City was having a sale so I was able to get the big HK balloon and some other items on a discount.

I like to use a lot of items that I already have at home to save money, so the flowers and the HK stuffed animals in the picture are mine.

Balloon – I actually bought the balloon a week before the party and just had Party City inflate the balloon the night before. They also can add stickers to the balloon to customize it too!

Food

Since the party was at 2 p.m., we only provided simple snack foods and two types of drinks (sweet tea and soda).

  • Cake
  • Fruit kabobs
  • Pretzels

Cake – Simple white cake with buttercream frosting that my husband made. We just added the HK candle we got from Party City on it.

Fruit kabobs – Banana & Strawberry kabobs and Watermelon & Kiwi kabobs. These are so simple to make. Just cut the fruit and stick them on the kabob sticks.

Pretzel sticks – It’s always a good idea to have a salty snack too. We provided pretzels but chips or popcorn is another great salty snack food too!

Activities

Since Arwen is only 2 years old, I didn’t plan any party games or extra activities for her. I simply had her blow out her candle on her cake, eat, and open gifts. It was a pretty laid back party but she still had a meltdown afterwards from too much stimulation. I think that less (people, gifts, & activities) is better for a 2 year old’s party, but a lot of it depends on the child’s personality.

Gifts

We got our daughter a water and sand table for her birthday, but if you want to see what else she got or need gift ideas for a 2 year old, check out The Ultimate Gift Guide For 2 Year Olds.

A little extra special thing I like to do is wrap the presents in wrapping paper that fits the birthday theme. I got a roll of Hello Kitty wrapping paper to wrap her gifts and she was so excited!
